Our Flag Stands Tall

The flag of the City of Chicago next to a highrise in my hood. Chicago's flag is truly loved by its residents as you see it flying proudly from peoples homes, is tattooed on countless body parts, and seen on peoples' clothing. In my countless travels I've never seen a city's flag as loved as Chicago's flag.

The three white stripes represent from top to bottom the Northside, Westside, and Southside of Chicago. The top blue stripe represents the North branch of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan while the bottom blue stripe represents the South branch of the Chicago River and the Great Canal. The first star represents Fort Dearborn, the second star represents the Great Chicago Fire, the third star represents the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, and the fourth star represents the Century of Progress Exposition of 1933/1934. Each of the six points of each star also represents items.
